Concert Review: Get Lost, Find Yourself Tour

Words by: Xochitl Hansen

Austin, Texas may be the live music capital of the world, but not many bands come through, unless it's a overpriced music festival. But when a great band or tour rolls through the cozy 512 , every fan comes out of the wood works to make one hell of a show. After getting into-courtesy of Fearless Records-my favorite venue in Austin the Get Lost,Find Yourself started off with a sucker punch of pop punk fury and fun. As it became time for the first band to take the stage, I realized this would be a small show, but I'd come to find out later, small does not matter. After running into a member of Shadow Of Whales who I interviewed a few weeks back- I must add, I made the little chat a tad awkward, because I'm a great fan of his work as a musician and well I have trouble talking to musicians I respect greatly- the show started!

Taking the stage first was a band called Calamity Jane, though I spaced out and did not get a photo of this band, I will say they are all well looking guys. Not know much about the band, I'd say from first glance, they have great potential. From their music to their stage presence, I hope to see them live again soon!

Taking the stage after Calamity Jane was my personal favorite of the night, Austin, Texas pop punkers Radio City. This being their first show after the release of their wonderful EP "The Greatest Game Ever Played", Radio City was fully prepared to rock. With brand new stage skrims displaying their album cover for their EP they went straight into  the first song. Have seen Radio City two times before,  I was fully prepared for the show they'd put on. Their first song was 'Minor Setback for a Major Comeback' the crowd went wild in only a few seconds. Pumped full of energy all of the band members began jumping up and down causing the crowd to go with them too. Knowing the lyrics to all of the songs, I was guilty of going a little wild. Radio City made the night nothing less then awesome, and I will defiantly be catching them again!

As In Her Own Words & To The Wind took they stage, I had to step near the merch tables. The bands were both great, but I wanted to minimize the amount of large drunk guys ramming into me from the moshing.  Both bands were hevavier than the other bands on the bill, which was great! The  mixed bill really made the night fun!

As the crowd became more alive, Twenty Nine Palms natives took the stage. Honestly, Forever Came Calling is one of the hardest working bands I've had the honor to see, from music just to the pure effort they put into the industry is astonishing and gives me hope for any band. The first song they played caused the show to go nuts with people stage diving and crowd surfing. Playing songs off their new album ' What Matters Most' ( which charted on the Billboard 200 ), they made my night enjoyable. If anyone is not familiar with them, I suggest you check out the ' No Room for Rock Stars' before you take a listen! Hit The Lights was the next band and band that I had heard of, but never seen live. So, when the whole band came on stage in a blaze of glory I grew happy. Hit The Lights was more than what i thought they would be.With all the members working like a well oiled machine this band showed they added to the fun of the night

The final band of the night was a band from across the pond, Chunk! No,Captain Chunk!  The stage was dressed up with amplifiers that were decorated with the saying' Get Lost, Find Yourself', which is the title of their upcoming album releasing May 19th on Fearless Records. The whole set was beyond fun. The crowd was at maximum fun with major crowd surfing and stage diving when next thing you know a kid with a pig mask ran up on stage! Laughing, I took to getting on stage myself for some surfing! At this point, Chunk! ended up playing a great cover of 'All Star' that had the crowd throwing up their arms to join in belting the lyrics out! Once the last song of the night ( and a real popular one too) begun the crowd turned into the equivalent of a Attila show.

Between the great music and the funny people that attended, the whole show was a night ill never forget,I even got the set list to help me remember forever!
