Review: Keith Harkin

Keith Harkin stormed the music scene when a group of guys from Ireland crossed the Atlantic. He is known for being the Irish Crooner. He is a sentimental singer with a country twist. His first album, which is self-titled not only has cover tunes but a few originals too.

1. The End of The Innocence -Henley/Hornsby. Most people believe that this song was written about the decline of farms and increase of military during the 80's. "Offer your best defense, This is the end,This is the end of the innocence."

2. Daisy Fields-Harkin. Great song about meeting the girl of your dreams when your eighteen and thinking she's the one only to discover  she's not. "I met her by the daisy fields, when we were eighteen."

3. Have I Told You Lately That I Love You-Van Morrison. This is a duet with Colbie Caillat. When Morrison wrote this song people believed it was written about his relationship with God. Could be used as that or simply a love song between two people. Asking that simple question "Have I told you lately that I love you?"

4. Everybody's Talkin'-Fred Neil. Everyone is talking and your not listening only listening to yourself. "I can't hear a word they're saying only the echoes of my m and."

5. Nothing But You & I-Harkin. This title says it all you only need each other. "You're the thing that matters most to me."

6. Here Comes The Sun-Harrison. A great Beatle tune. One of the few written by George. Talking about a long cold winter being alone now the sun is shinning. "Little darlin its been a long cold lonely winter".

7. Tears Of Hercules-Jordan/Moccio. Breaking up and getting over it. Seeing her face across the way and knowing its over. " But I got over you last night and I am still alive."

8. Orange Moon-Harkin.  Meeting up with an old love. Wanting to meet one last time as you pass thru her town. "Oh meet me one more time in town... Underneath the orange moon."

9. Take It Away Boys-Harkin. Growing and leaving. Be that man and take a chance. "The open roads for me."

10. Don't Forget About Me-Harkin. Best song on this album I believe. Knowing you are grieving with a broken heart and you want to run but don't know where. "Forget about east, forget about west go where the weather suits you best."

11. Rosa-Harkin. Another love song written by Keith. Falling for the one and letting her know your working your way back to her. "Gonna catch the world for you, I'm making my way back home."

12. The Heart Of Saturday Night-Tom Watts. Dreaming of those saturday nights with the one you love. " Stumblin  onto the heart of Saturday night."
