Interview: A Failed Apology

Hey readers! Last week, I got in touch with Buffalo-based band A Failed Apology for a quick get-to-know-you interview! All of the answers you see here are direct quotes from them, as we did the interview over email. If you live in the area, go check out one of their shows! If you're not in the area, you can still check out their music via their social networks, which I'll link at the bottom of this post.

Members and their roles:

Dominic Parisi- Vocals
James McQuade- Vocals, Unclean Vocals
Vinny Parisi- Guitar
Kevin Smeader- Guitar
Andrew Serwon- Bass
Dominic Dalfonso- Drums

When were you founded?

October 2012

How would you describe your sound?

Simple, hook-driven, pop-punk. Sounds very similar to New Found Glory, Man Overboard, and Neck Deep.

Who are your influences?

Both old and new age Pop-Punk bands. Old Age Pop-Punk influences include Blink-182, Fall Out Boy, and New Found Glory. New age bands we’re influenced by include (but are not limited to) Real Friends, Neck Deep, Major League, State Champs, The Story So Far, and The Wonder Years .

Where did the name come from?

The song “Just Enough To Love You” by Bayside.

What’s coming up for you guys?

We have a new EP coming out this Fall that we are super excited about. We recorded it back in August with Jay Zubricky of GCR Audio and are very pleased with how it turned out. We worked hard on this record and are very proud of it, and we hope everyone else feels the same way when it comes out.

Are there any other local bands that you guys find you play shows with a lot or you collaborate with?

It seems like we play a lot of shows with Worse Than Yesterday, Skylight Stereo, and Thundercloud Kid. All are great dudes who play great music.

As far as collaboration goes, we took it to the next level on our new EP. On the last day of recording, we packed the control room with about 20 people from all different bands around the Buffalo music scene to help us out with gang vocals on the record. We also have five different features from some of our favorite local bands on the last track called “The Way I Think of You”. It turned out really well and it was cool to get everyone in there to contribute their own unique flavor to the track.

Are any of you involved in other projects at the moment?

No.
