Hey everyone! This is a bit longer than my usual updates, but it's because I'm getting back into the swing of things after adjusting to the first week back to college classes. I've broken it into a few sections so you can skip through if you'd like. So here it goes...
Interviews
First of all, I want to say another HUGE thank you to Soviet Dolls and Thundercloud Kid for their interviews, I hope you enjoyed reading them as much as I enjoyed gathering up information for you! Now unfortunately, my interview with The Branch Davidians has been rescheduled to a date TBD. It turns out only one of them was free during the scheduled time, and they'd like to have more people there. So stay tuned for that interview, I will write up an update when we've got that rescheduled. As far as scheduling more interviews goes, I'm working on it! I'm actually going to meet up with one of my relatives soon to tap his brain a little bit. His name is Nate Coffey, and he's been around the Rochester scene longer than I've been alive, so he knows a ton about our city and its music. I'm also using this week to reach out to some bands in Buffalo NY, to 'expand the horizons' so to speak, of this blog's interviews.
Feature Announcement
I've decided that the way I'm going to do local features is by scheduling them once a month. So this month's feature will be posted on Friday September 26th, and it will focus on The Caring Music Group. If you're a regular reader, you know that I actually intern for this company, so it will be a more in depth look on what it is they do along with a short Q&A with my boss Tony Falzano, who is the owner of the company. I will announce next month's feature the day after this month's is posted.
What to do in Rochester this weekend
If you're in Rochester and want to catch an awesome show this weekend, head down to The Bug Jar on Monroe Ave. on Sunday night (9/14). The show consists of local bands Soviet Dolls and Admirers, along with New Zealand natives BROODS. This would be a perfect opportunity for you to catch Soviet Dolls in action if you enjoyed their interview (posted Aug. 30).
Want to contribute to this blog?
If anyone is interested in contributing to this blog about their own city's music scene or if you want to write a feature about a local band in your town, email me! Send your email to lizwmcc@gmail.com with the subject line 'ShuffleBeatMusic' with your pitch and I'll get back to you ASAP! I check my email about once an hour, so I'll get back to you pretty fast. I'd love to hear about other music scenes and I'm always looking for new music.
xx
