I'm going to try to keep this short and sweet, but I just wanted to reflect on my journey into the music industry since May of this year to now, and set some goals for next year.
When I started out back in May, I only vaguely had an idea of what I wanted to do in the industry. I still haven't narrowed it down to a fine point yet, but I know that I want to work my way up to being a manager of some kind. Whether I decide to go along with that as a tour manager or work my way up in a record label, I'm not sure yet honestly. But I feel like I've learned so much and grown from where I started.
By the end of the summer, I was an intern with the Caring Music Group and XL Recordings, a member of the Fearless Records street team, a music blogger/social media coordinator at Open Our Eyes and I was working for the Syndicate. I tried to get into a little bit of everything, and even though it put a lot on my plate, I think that is where a lot of my growth this year came from. I learned about the things that I enjoyed doing and the things that I wasn't cut out for.
I stand here at the end of this year with a lighter plate, but a promising new year. I no longer intern with the Caring Music Group, I cut back my time with XL Recordings and I will be using 2015 to really hone in on some different things. I'm going to be putting more time into this blog, more time in at Open Our Eyes, keeping up with my Fearless assignments, and I'm a new writer for UMusicians, which will be linked in the side bar once everything switches over the first of the year.
With all that said, some of my goals for 2015 are:
-Get as close to 10,000 views on this blog as we can.
- Improve my style of interviewing
-Do things as often as possible to get me closer to my career goal.
-Make more connections in the industry.
-Go to more concerts (local and otherwise).
I hope all of you had lovely holidays, and have a safe new year! There will be a "Year in Review" playlist up tomorrow with some of my favorites of 2014 (it's scheduled to go up at noon Eastern Time).
See you in 2015!!
xx
