Review: The Greatest Game Ever Played by Radio City

Words by: Xochitl Hansen

The Greatest Game Ever Played is the musical brain child of Austin, Texas pop punk band Radio City, and reinvents what you call ‘pop punk’. From great vocals to a spot on back line, Radio City’s new EP will make any crappy day worth your while. Powerful choruses, great leads, and more importantly ambition that is obviously paying off is allowing them to make a great impact on the music scene, having played well know music festival South by So What?!  (Now know as So What?! festivals)  Radio City defiantly is the band whose you’ll be seeing on the marquee very soon, so i'd make sure you know their music!

Starting off the EP with their well know single, Minor Setback for a Major Comeback, the album kicks off of a wonderful note. Between the meaningful lyrics and great beat this song is defiantly the song that will help you get through the day.

On the Line, number two on the EP, starts off different than the rest of the album with wonderful drumming. Defiantly the song to help you realize you should pursue the opportunities given in your life!

Heart of Gold, which is number three on the EP, is defiantly the anthem of the EP. The very catchy song illustrates the truth behind following your own path and not listening to what the peanut gallery has to chime in with. This is a great thing to do, because if you listen to doubt – or any other nasty thing someone spews- you might not know your full potential.

Number four on the EP is Not a Letter, Just a Postcard, is defiantly chocked-full of meaning. Starting off hearing a small but great bass line, the song swings straight into showing you the meaning behind knowing what exactly you want.

Last but not least is Fearless, and is defiantly my favorite song! My take on the song is that you have to complete what life throws your way on your own and you cant take handouts constantly, because their will be many times in your life when things happen and you have to help yourself.

Finally, the best part is, the album is only $4.95 on ITunes (HERE), which is just about the same price of a pack of smokes or that cup of overpriced coffee you get in the morning. So, skip your bad habit for the day and help support some great musicians, I promise you won’t regret it!

Keep up with the band:
