Album Review: Everything Is 4 by Jason Derulo

Before reading this, I would guess that you've heard of Jason Derulo.  From last year's summer anthem "Talk Dirty", to his relationship with Jordin Sparks, Jason has made somewhat of a name for himself, in the music business.  He basically fits the stereotype of popular R&B musicians.  It's probably not on his albums if it's not about drama, money, partying, or sex.

This is a good album that has a song called "Want To Want Me", that might turn out to be the song of the summer.  There are a variety of artists collaborations, like Jennifer Lopez and Stevie Wonder.  The overall idea of the album is centered around the many troubles that come, when trying to have a good time.

In my opinion, Jason Derulo is about to become a household name.  His music is reminiscent of Michael Jackson's most popular music in the 1980's.  That shines through in "Cheyenne" and "Love Me Down."  About half of this album could end up as a radio single, so props to Derulo.

Notable Songs:

Want To Want Me - It's upbeat and catchy, a recipe for a future number one single.  It took me a few listens to catch on, but it's grown on me.  It may even melt a few hearts.

Trade Hearts (ft. Julia Michaels) - This is about how a lack of empathy can put stress upon a relationship.  If could trade hearts, maybe they'd understand the constant problems that come up between them.

X2CU - A play on letters, X (aka ex or former significant other), 2 (aka two), C (aka see), U (aka you).  It's an attempt to cause a former partner to become jealous, that turns into mixed feelings about the whole situation.  Fittingly, it sounds like "ecstasy you."

Broke (featuring Stevie Wonder and Keith Urban) - An anthem about putting money over shallow relationships.  He asks about whether he would have the same praise or fame if he were poor.
