Review: The Divine Zero by Pierce the Veil

Reviewed by: Reanna Simmons
It has been three long years since the boys of Pierce The Veil have released any new tunes, but they have been filling the fans’ void by doing tours here and there, and a handful of interviews feeding the anticipation of new material. And to think Kim Kardashian broke the internet I’m pretty sure Pierce The Veil broke the alternative musicsphere.

The Divine Zero was released the night of June 18th, and it came packing. The lyrics in the song are a bit dark. “Wild eyes of terror pray for sex on the beach while oceans of kerosene will soak into me,” Vic Fuentes sings. It genuinely makes you think what the inspiration is behind the song.  “I'm not meant for this world, I just don't see the point, so I don’t think about it, don’t over think about it,” Vic continues. Maybe the song tells of anxiety, and the fear of losing the faith from someone you care dearly about? I can’t personally answer what the song means. That’s what I got from the song. Besides the lyrics the instrumental part of the song is a bit heavy, and it takes you on this rollercoaster of sound. Note after note it builds the song up exploding with emotion.

Since the single has been dropped there’s a bit of speculation of their up and coming album, and now that the band is touring this summer on the Vans Warped Tour will the album drop while they’re on tour? Or after? There’s so much speculation because the last time they were on the Vans Warped Tour they dropped their first single off of Collide With The Sky featuring Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens, and about a month into the tour their third album dropped. Honestly, who knows, and until then question resides up in the air.
