There is an album that came out in 2006 called “Here, here and here.” The thing about its album; (and not to mention the song that is the album’s title) is it’s authenticity. I love this album and have this huge love affair with Meg & Dia because they sound like home to me. The first song off of that album “Going away” has me always thinking of me just picking up and running away. Whenever I want to run away from my problems, whenever I just want to take off and run, I listen to this song.
The lyrics are poignant: “Please don’t forget me/I’m going away”/”I’m taking a taxi to Kentucky where they don’t even know all about me/ “I just need to feel safe.” These lyrics are a comfort to me. I grew up in a rough neighborhood in a rough family, with a rough home life. Whenever I need a reminder to stay put, and its better to see things through to the end I listen to this song.
“Hug Me” is the second song off of this album, a song where both of them have weird fetishes, and maybe you do too. “What if” is the third song off of this album; and it shows you what regret COULD look like. “Black Wedding” could be a song that describes a bad marriage, or even a bad relationship, “Last Great star of Hollywood” reminds me of who I am. When I listen to this album and I’m upset by this song I’ve calmed down. I want to run away and pick up and leave, and by “Last great star of Hollywood” I have calmed down and am blasting this song in the car.
“Here, here and here” should be a song that every person is required to listen to because life really CAN be that simple if you use your head, your heart, and your ears at the same time you can be successful in life.
