Album Review: Never Hungover Again by Joyce Manor

Joyce Manor is a band I’ve listened to for several years now, I totally fell in love with their bouncy-aggressive sound. Their songs and albums are both short but the impression the message leaves is long term.
  1.  Christmas Card – Joyce Manor is a band you can listen to with the volume all the way up. This song was quite the hook, the beginning of this album started off with a bang, and my faith in Joyce Manor ensures it will end with one too.
  2.  Falling in Love Again – This song is one of my favorites on the album, it opens new sounds and melodies that are something Joyce Manor definitely tackles and conquers in one swoop.
  3.  End of the Summer – Another great addition to this album pushes the limits on all things garage band. Though Joyce Manor is becoming vastly popular and creating a new vibe they will always have that garage band beginning.
  4.  Victoria – The guitar and drums in this song completely and totally take over, numbing you into a mosh pit type mind set. Though the song itself is not necessarily “hardcore” it’s certainly music in its realest sense.
  5.  Schley – The songs are short but the meaning is big. The lyrics are like a punch to the gut, but they’re truthful. There’s not much to say other than that. I think truthful is the best compliment you could give.
  6.  Heart Tattoo – Can a tattoo make the love real? Maybe the love sinks in with the ink. But it looks like we’re about to get a heart tattoo. this piece covers both gorgeous and mangled emotions.
  7.  The Jerk – Losing someone who’s keeping secrets is a painful way to go, but with perfect instrumentals, vocals, and all around greatness from Joyce manor we just might make it.
  8.  In the Army Now – “I always knew you’d leave me someday.” The army either metaphorical or realistic is an interesting concept. Love and hockey mask are quite the combination, and the uniform suits you well. All you have to do is fall in line and forget the old ways. Right?
  9.  Catalina Fight Song – The aggressive, bouncing, fight-me-vibe falls into perfect line and symphony with this album. All around the album is the equivalent of the girl of your dreams.
  10. Heated Swimming Pool - This piece has a calmer, more strung-out tone. A song about people not liking you, but honestly who cares? A great ending to this album, you definitely get the closure you were searching for.
