Review: Future Hearts by All Time Low

Hey, everybody! For this review I decided to review a band that sadly isn't going to be on warped tour, but definitely gets me in the summer mood. I recently decided to check out All Time Low's new album, Future Hearts, and I am not unimpressed. This album is perfect for a walk on sunny day, or in my case, napping with my windows open. Whether you’re driving or relaxing, this album fits the situation perfectly in my view. This album features a variety of guest vocals, including Blink-182 member Mark Hoppus, and Good Charlotte member Joel Madden, which definitely adds to this awesome album. You can tell that this was meant to be just a very lighthearted album, and I absolutely love it. Overall, if I had to sum up summer and spring into one album, I'd have to choose this one.

Track List & Comments

1. Satellite- Great introduction to the album, love the focus on the vocals
and the simplicity of the song. Definitely a cute little intro.

2. Kicking & Screaming- Yet another cute song (I can already tell I'm going to be typing a lot of cutes reviewing this). I don't know how to describe this songs other than it's just very carefree and features lyrics about a love (shocker) and chasing after rock and roll.

3. Something's Gotta Give- This song is a great song that has a nice melody and nice progression. I definitely love the guitar work in this, and I also highly recommend checking out the music video (unless you don't like zombies or gore). I think this song is about feeling a little hopeless and dead and needing something to bring you back to a good place.

4.Kids In The Dark- This song is an uplifting tune about the underestimated and ignored kids. It's about rising up and coming together to do amazing things, and I really like the bass in this song.

5.Runaways- This song is a nice song about escaping with a loved one and getting away from the bad parts of everyday life. You can definitely hear the drums in this one, which I like.

6. Missing You- This one is definitely one of my favorites for it's playful chorus and awesome acoustics. It's about getting better and having to deal with your mistakes, but if you were just listening to it as background noise, it would probably sound like a love song. All in all, this is another cute song (I've said way too many cutes in this review), and flows very nicely with the rest of the album.

7. Cinderblock Garden- To me, this song is great if you don't like songs that only focus on one instrument. I love hearing the drums and bass in this, and it's especially nice if you listen with your headphones. This is another uplifting song with lyrics such as "just hold out for tomorrow, our dreams will follow" and "we could make forever after all". All in all, great song.

8. Tidal Waves- To me, this song is about feeling very conflicted and uneasy about something, and not knowing someone's true feelings towards you are. I think Mark Hoppus was a great person to bring in for guest vocals and his voice is a nice touch to this song. This is a very slow song, which isn't everyone's thing, but I think it's still worth checking out.

9. Don't You Go- This song is about falling in love with a one night stand and is another playful song off this album. It's one of my favorites, and it definitely got stuck in my a lot when I first started listening to this album. I really like the instrument work in this.

10. Bail Me Out- This song is an upbeat way of saying that someone doesn't deserve you because they are a terrible significant other, and it amuses me very much. It's pretty much saying will you forgive me even though I'm always getting into these situations, and does so in a way that's still cute. Also, Joel Madden of Good Charlotte did guest vocals on this track, which was definitely a good choice artistically.

11. Dancing With A Wolf- This song is quite different from the other songs, and is about being done with someone who just isn't truthful or sincere. With lyrics like "there's no love for a liar" and "I will take you down", you can tell whoever wrote this song is done with whoever they're talking about. Definitely a strong track.

12. The Edge of Tonight- This song is yet another one of my favorites. It's about someone making you feel alive and just making everything okay. It's a very simple and beautiful song.

13 Old Scars/ Future Hearts- This song is a great way to end the album, and is just a very empowering song about not giving up and rising above. Yet another one of my favorites.
