Review: Only Forever by Alive Like Me

Review by: Hailie Vanisi
Alive Like Me have made me speechless with their newest album, Only Forever. I’ve honestly never loved an album by a band that I’ve never heard of more than this one. Every single song I was tapping my foot or bobbing my head. There was a little Sleeping With Sirens and Pierce The Veil vibe, but with a twist, which definitely made me love this album even more. There was so much originality used to create this amazing album and I never thought “Wow they totally copied off so and so.”   They’ve got so much talent, and if all of their future albums sound as great as this one, they’re going to be very successful. I would recommend this album to anyone who enjoys bands such as Pierce The Veil, Sleeping With Sirens, etc. or anyone who’s looking for new, fresh, and upbeat music. Alive Like Me is just getting started.
Some of the songs that stuck out to me were, Slip Away, Our Time Down Here, Wreckage, and Start Again.
Slip Away: The beginning just really intrigued me, with a little bit of a dancing feel, and then transitioned into something almost completely different. My favorite lyrics were “Will you please stop asking me to stay?...You know it has to be this way.”
Our Time Down Here: Wow is the only thing I can possibly say about this song. From the super awesome guitar riffs, and beautiful vocals this song was AMAZING! I was head banging in the middle of my room like a crazy person, but I don’t mind I LOVED IT! This was hands down my favorite song.
Wreckage: This song is totally a “listen to the lyrics, not the music” song. You can tell by the way that Jairus sings, what happened affected him a lot. There was so much emotion put into this it really just made me want to go scream the lyrics from the top of the Eiffel Tower.
Start Again: I could tell from the way the piano sounded in the beginning, this was going to be another powerful song like Wreckage, and that’s exactly what it was. It was all about changing your life, and turning yourself into who you want to be, and it was a song where I just thought “Was this based off of me or am I crazy?”

If there is any album that deserves an award it is by far Only Forever by Alive Like Me.
