Interview: Forever the Athlete

Hey readers! Recently, I got in touch with Buffalo-based band Forever the Athlete for a quick get-to-know-you interview! All of the answers you see here are direct quotes from them, as we did the interview over email. If you live in the area, go check out one of their shows! When were you founded? 

We were founded in the Winter of 2011 at Genesee Community College.


How would you describe your sound? 

Our sound is aggressive pop punk with a Female singer.


Who are your influences? 

Each of us have different musical influences.  But if we could pick 4 bands that have collectively helped us define our sound and the things we like to talk about in our lyrics, they would be:

1. Such Gold
2. Transit
3. The Story So Far
4. Real Friends


Where did the name come from? 

Adrian originally wanted to start a band called Athletes, but after input from each band member, the band name just became Forever The Athlete.


What’s coming up for you guys?

We are writing our second album, and experimenting with new equipment including an Axe FX.  We also might release a Christmas Cover song, and a DIY music video.


Are there any other local bands that you guys find you play shows with a lot or you collaborate with?

We like to play with another local band Thundercloud Kid.  There are a few other bands that we look forward to playing with again.  Storm The Bay, Random Holiday, Carousel Kings, and Late In The Playoffs.


Are any of you involved in other projects at the moment? 

--Miranda is a licensed esthetician
--Adrian and Joseph produce their own solo music, and play in several other bands including Insights, In The Eyes Of Angels, and Lions Honor.
--Leland is a Wedding Photographer
--Brett  travels a lot and does graphic design.
